The historic bells from First United Methodist Church of West Chicago now are in place at the Heritage Bell Plaza at the methodist church, 643 E. Washington St. Each of the congregations preserved the bells from their original buildings. In October 2013, the bells were moved from the storage shed to be refurbished by Smith’s Bell & Clock Service in Indiana. On June 17, the refurbished bells returned to West Chicago. Kramer’s Tree Specialists donated equipment and manpower to unload the bells and hoist them onto the A-frame supports. For the first time, the two bells pealed forth in unison.
